Surgical Vision Correction
LASIK Huntsville • Decatur • Madison
LASIK is the most commonly performed refractive surgery procedure Dr. Danny Lee performs. LASIK, which continues to grow in popularity, has several advantages over other vision correction procedures as it yields immediate results, and gives you clearer, more reliable vision in less than 24 hours.
When considering Laser Vision Correction, it is important to consult with a board-certified ophthalmologist such as Dr. Lee. Although LASIK can be performed in a matter of minutes with excellent results, it is essential to sit down prior to surgery and discuss risks and benefits that are associated with the procedure, along with what you expect before, during, and after your treatment. Dr. Lee feels educating his patients is a vital step in the surgical process. Contact us today for more information.
Not everyone is a candidate for this advanced surgical procedure, which is why we recommend that you first come in for a FREE SCREENING. This screening is offered through the Huntsville Laser Center. Once the Screening is completed, if you wish to proceed, a dilated pre-operative examination will be scheduled with Dr. Lee.
Once Dr. Lee has decided you are a suitable candidate for surgery, he will determine which procedure is best suited to your individual needs. Our team wants you to feel as comfortable as possible during the course of your treatment. If you have questions you want answered, concerns you want to voice, or if you need a hand to hold, our sight specialists are here for you every step of the way.
Dr. Lee understands LASIK can be a life changing procedure, which is why he and his team make themselves available to you, and spend a substantial amount of time educating you about your treatment.
Dr. Lee’s practice is the first in the Southeast region to offer a brand new technology called iDesign to his LASIK patients. This system, newly approved by the FDA, is a tool used to produce high-resolution scans of your eye with great detail. These scans are then used to measure the shape of the cornea and what needs to be changed during the LASIK procedure. This technology makes LASIK a more of a possibility for patients with astigmatism and those who have an unusual pupil sizes.
Dr. Lee’s practice in Huntsville and Decatur AL is among the first practices in the United States to obtain and use iDesign technology. iDesign adds another level of customization and safety to your LASIK experience.
Dr. Lee offers iLasik which is the safest, most technologically advanced laser vision correction procedure available today. iLASIK combines the Advanced CustomVue treatment with the IntraLase Method, a 100% blade-free approach to creating the flap, delivering outstanding results! More patients achieve vision that is 20/20 or better when the IntraLase Method is used.
Dr. Lee will begin by cleaning the eyelashes and lid area to remove any bacteria that may be present. Then, several eye drops will be instilled to “numb” the eyes. First, the Femtosecond laser is used to create a thin flap in your cornea. During this step, you will feel a pressure sensation very similar to a sinus headache, and your vision will get very dim or go dark. This step only takes a few seconds to complete.
Once the flap is created you are ready for step two. Dr. Lee will gently fold back the flap exposing the bed of your cornea. The Excimer laser is then used to reshape your cornea. During this part of the procedure you will see and hear the laser, but will feel nothing. Once treatment is completed, Dr. Lee will position the flap back into place. Once the cornea is shaped correctly, light can pass through it to the retina, providing dramatically clearer vision.
